That sounds like a kernel configuration problem. Double-check that the
following kernel configuration items are set in your kernel's .config:
CONFIG_PCMCIA=y
CONFIG_CARDBUS=y
# CONFIG_I82365 is not set -- important!
CONFIG_NET_PCMCIA=y
CONFIG_PCMCIA_3C574=m # or =y, your choice
