Sad, but true ! 
Most important chip-manufacturers won't give away free specs on their chips.
But I still don't understand their point :-(
Maybe if we could gather more people interested in a free linux-driver, we
could make them change their minds. Just like, for example, NVidia. As I know,
after some pressure from the linux community, they finnaly decided to support
the development of Mesa and XF86 drivers for their Riva TNT series chips.
Although, I think we are already at a point of no return, since OSS has already
paid for information under a NDA, as I figured out talking to them.

Well, let me know if you're interested in pushing this a little more :-)
