I think the point is that there are many problems that do fit the "beowulf" model that previously were very expensive to solve. There will always be a case for the very high end (read as expensive) machines. But, a class of hardware that was previously unavailable to many people just a few years ago is now very much in reach. We (Paralogic) are helping customers answer the question "will a beowulf cluster work for me?" And it all depends on the application (problem) ....
