I'm about embark on a venture with Ultra Penguin. My Ultra2 box is and Ultra2 Creator, with a 200 MHz processor and 384 megs of ram. It has a 4 gig wide SCSI hard drive that uses a SCA connector. I assume from my HP Netserver experience that this hot swappable? Now, my questions are: 1. Does Ultra Penguin 1.1.9 support the graphics card that is normally installed in the Creator series? It is my understanding, that earlier versions did not. I do not know exactly with card I have. 2. What type of SCSI host adapter is normally installed in the Creator series machines? Do I have some type of RAID controller connected to my 4 gig drive, that the Ultra Penguin does not yet support? If so, will I need to install a standard SCSI host to the standard SCSI host that the CD and other standard scsi devices will hook up to? (standard SCSI being not RAID) 3. My box did not come with equipped with a floppy or cd-rom drive. I am in need if a cheap source for these parts. Will a standard 'ol PC style floppy work? I understand about the firmware issue with the cd and 512k blocks, but the other than being auto-eject, the floppy looks fairly standard issue for PCs. I could cannibalize my SPARCstation2 for the floppy drive and CG6 graphics card, but being greedy and power hungry, I would like to have both of the up and running. Currently, I planning to DL the Ultra Peguiin 1.1.9 to my SS2 box and then install across the wire to the Ultra2 box. Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thank you, and have a very Merry Christmas! _________________________________ Bryan Smith GTE Business Development & Integration LAN Administrator - GTE North Internet: bryan.smith@telops.gte.com Phone: 219-461-2054 Pager: 800-619-0429
