i was running 2.2.0-pre5, but i've since switched to 2.2.4 as
you suggested, and i've had no trouble since. i've been doing
the same kind of stuff as i was doing yesterday -- i tried to
repeat exactly what i did yesterday -- and haven't been able
to provoke a crash.

i'll shout if anything goes wrong, but so far it looks as if you
can assume it's fixed.
