There shouldn't be any compatibility problems w/ existing metadata, and you should be able to switch between lvm10 and lvm2 packages pretty painlessly. Note that the lvm2 packages conflict w/ the lvm10 packages; if you're working on a system that can't afford much downtime, you may want to first grab the patch, and do all the necessary kernel stuff first.
