However, there are some issues: 1. The guest kernel needs to be compiled on a 32-bit OS. While it will run on the 64-bit, I haven't had any success with compiling. 2. The host SKAS patch has not yet been ported (publicly) to AMD 64-bit. So your guest kernels will ONLY run in TT mode. Good luck! Tony >>> "jmf" 09/22/04 06:07AM >>> I'm using 64 bit Gentoo on an Athlon64 and it would be really nice to have a working port of 32 bit UML. This would allow us to sandbox a 32 bit Gentoo kernel within the 64 bit Gentoo environment. I want to emphasize that I'm not even asking for a real 64 bit UML port, I simply want the standard UML 32 bit port to compile, and run, in amd64 32-bit mode. This would allow people in amd64 linux-land to have some form of UML to use while we wait for a true 64-bit implementation. I tried simply compiling the 32 bit UML port using gcc 3.3.4 and "linux32 make linux ARCH=um" with a SUBARCH := i386, but this failed complaining about things like arch/um/sys-i386/util/mk_sc.c:30: error: structure has no member named `eax' I'm surprised UML didn't compile so if anyone has some suggestions to try, please let me know. _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: YOU BE THE JUDGE.
