The attached patch adds --with-build configure option to specify the
build tree.  As default, it's taken from /lib/modules/XXX/build.
Also the patch includes clean ups.

I didn't test the patch for 2.2/2.4 kernels.  It would be appreciated
if anyone can test it on older kernels.
