ok, then try the attached patch and output hw:0,1.
if anything comes out, then change
device 0 -> 1
subdevice 3 -> 0
in the definition of VIA8233.pcm.iec958.0 in VIA8233.conf.
also, check whether "IEC958 Output Switch" affects the behavior.
