Excelent ! Since a long time, i have been collecting ideas about
this... 

First of all, i would propose to make a detailed and complete
requirements definition.
For that purpose i'm soliciting write access to the ALSA Wiki, because i
think it would be appropriate for sharing ideas, and the requirement
documentation itself (our drawing board).

IMHO, this would be roughly the steps involved:
1) Definition of requirements.
2) Design.
3) Implementation.

As soon as i get write access to the ALSA wiki (if not, i'll setup my
own), i will post there my current ideas, in order to start.
