M-Audio Fast track problem

Hello,

I've got a M-Audio fast track.

If I open alsamixer and select the fast track sound card, alsamixer just 
displays the message

"This device has no command"

Is it a bug or a normal behavior ? When I dig into google for this 
problem I feel iti's more a problem than a normal behavior.

The 'lsusb' part for Fasttrack:

The actual message is "This sound device does not have any controls."
(Apparently, the translation is somewhat off.)

It were a bug only if that device actually had some control.

So, my question is: what is a control wrt to alsamixer ?

I hoped it should be possible to control the volume of this usb sound 
card with alsamixer ...
There is also a line out but absolutely no sound comes from this output.
I used it via jack without problem, but I can't use the line out output.
I thought this was due to a volume level set to  0 for the line out and 
I tried to set it via alsamixer  ... without success.

Apparently, this device does not have any volume control that is accessible by software.
