Subject: plug and resampling
Date: Thu, 30 Nov 2006 11:35:21 +0300	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <200611301135.21716@goldspace.net> (raw)

Say, I have defined this device:

pcm.spdif88 {
	type plug
	slave {
		pcm "spdif"
		rate 88200
	}
}

And this device is used for playing back of files with rate 44100Hz.
How is upsampling implemented at such case? Is some information
loss possible?

I use external DAC and want to understand pros and cons of such upsampled
playing back.
