I think it's a dmix issue. I cannot reproduce it on my system, because I only have the emu10k1 to test with, but if you look at the logs it seems related to the use of PCM slave timers by dmix. It should be easy to reproduce with aoss + kiax (open source VOIP client) over dmix with any non-hardware mixing device. I think solving this bug could be key to resolving the aoss + skype issues, as we now have a similar open source app with which we can reproduce the bug.
