All volume controllers are at 70% and unmuted, except for PCM, because there is no mute/unmute-button. ====================================================================== Relationships ID Summary ---------------------------------------------------------------------- duplicate of 0001517 No sound on hda-intel on Acer TravelMat... ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jwoithe - 03-01-06 00:34 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grattemedi: thanks for your report of success. Others have given similar reports except for them capture is working fine. Please double-check all your alsamixer settings to make sure things aren't inadvertantly muted. To record from the internal mic or the external mic jack, you need to: * select the "mic" as the input source (displayed in "Playback" view) * in the "Mic Jack Mode" control, select "Mic bias 80pc" * in "Capture" view, unmute "Capture" channel (NOT "Capture 1") and turn its volume up If you want to hear the mic input in the soundcard's output you will also need to unmute the "mic" channel in the alsamixer "playback" view and maybe turn its volume up a bit. This does not affect recording/capturing, however. With all this done try capturing again and see what happens. Also note that on these Acers the internal mic is disconnected by the hardware when you plug an external mic into the mic jack. If there's still an issue please file a new bug report. I'm pretty sure your problem is a software setup thing though, since capture has been reported working by others. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jwoithe - 03-01-06 00:38 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lee: yes, I think this bug can be closed. We have sufficient reports of success with the latest CVS patch series to suggest that we're almost there with regard to support for these Acer models. The few remaining issues can be dealt with via existing alsa-devel list threads, or affected users can file new bugs. Note that the beep issue is deeper than it seems - that control refers to the beep generator on the ALC260 (which currently isn't being driven by any driver). How that might fit into the rest of the Linux system I'm not sure. I'm still pondering that.
