Summary:                    ASUS A8V-MX onboard sound does not work
Description: 
Onboard sound plays for a second, then freezes on Asus A8V-MX mainboard. 
Here is sound output from lspci:

ALC655 rev 1".

Someone posted a fix for the problem here:
http://www.geocities.com/rajahuroman/main.html (scroll down to the bottom
of the page)

I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

That "fix" is an OSS driver with a proprietary module. Not very helpful.

I have not been able to find any ALC653-specific code in the
nonproprietary part of the patch.
