Description: 
When I use the line in on the card, it will not capture unless i crank up
the mixer to near peak, and then its garbled and distorted sound, my
capture is up all the way and i know its not a dumb mistake of mine

It is a creative live 24-bit 0410.

That is a picture of the card, albeit a crummy one.  I pulled my computer
out and checked- I was mistaken on the number of jacks the card has- it
only has 4 as is shown in the picture.

That is a better picture.  If you need me to pull mine out to look at
chipset identifiers or anything, let me know.

The mic/Line-in is shared with the spdif in/out jack.
So, you can either do mic/line-in using the Mic/Line in control in the
playback display of alsamixer. You then go to the capture display of
alsamixer to select the input.
For min/line-in select I2S input.

For spdif in/out jack, unmute the "spdif out" control. This will disable
mic/line-in and enable spdif out via the special external optical in/out
connector.

There are currently no volume controls for mic/line-in volume. They are
just set at the loudest setting that you can have without distortion.
