I don't get your explanations. can you elaborate on what this does now
that pdata is no longer passed as an argument to the machine driver:
struct snd_soc_component *component = snd_soc_rtdcom_lookup(rtd, DRV_NAME);
struct sst_pdata *pdata = dev_get_platdata(component->dev);
the 'component' here is not the PCM one, is it?
