Greetings:

I get the following error when trying to install the mia driver after
compiling the latest release against the latest kernel for Ubuntu.

It seems you compiled the driver against the wrong headers and/or the
configuration of the tree with the headers doesn't match the configuration
of the currently running kernel.

Which parameters did you give to configure?

Rethinking about this, the problem is most likely that you haven't unloaded
the ALSA drivers shipped with your kernel.
