Summary: Support for new Prodigy 7.1 LT
Description:
Could you please try to add support for the Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 LT, as
far as I am aware this card is essentially the same as the Produgy 7.1 but
low profile and with a couple of physical changes such as no digital in.

ALSA does not detect the card currently and when I try to load the
snd-1724 module it fails with an EEPROM error.

I have tried compiling a new kernel with the subdevice id for the Prodigy
7.1 in aureon.h changed to correspond to my device (as detailed here for
another card
http://linux.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups/comp.os.linux.hardware/2004-10/0340.html).
Alsa then detects the card and I can load modules and change volumes in
alsamixer but I haven't been able to produce any sound.

Hopefully support will be easy to add as this card is almost exactly the
same as the Prodigy 7.1 (and Aureon Space etc.) which already have
support.

I would be very happy to give any further information needed.

Yes, sorry I should have mentioned that. The back speakers on the 7.1 can
function as a Headphone output (I think there is a sort of basic Headphone
amp in there maybe). I have had my actual speakers connected to this for
a day or so now and reducing the pcm volume to 70 and keeping all the
other levels max produces good sound at good volume. I have noticed the
same thing with the pcm volume for my oboard sound as well, a high pcm
volume seems to make for bad sound in my experience.
I don't know how it is that I would choose to use the output for actual
back speakers if I so desired, but I am going to use them for my
headphones (currently my speakers) anyway so to me it doesn't matter.

I have had problems getting this card to work as well. So far, I've just
been using precompiled drivers from atrpms, but I will be downloading the
source to try and help out with this as well, since I have a vested
interest.

I don't need the analog outputs as much as I need the S/PDIF output, but
it would be nice to have the card working in general. This is the only
low-profile card with S/PDIF that I've been able to find.

I do have experience with coding drivers, including one sound driver (an
OSS one for some specialty hardware where I work); so I am willing to do
some work in the code if necessary.

Reading through this series of notes, it appears that you have sound
coming out, but may not have the onboard amp setup correctly--is that a
fair assessment?

Also, has anyone tried the digital out (S/PDIF coaxial out)? I will apply
the patches here and try it out tonight if I have time. This is one of
only two issues keeping my MythTV box from being completely functional
(the other involves my low-profile PVR150mce card, but I think I can pass
an argument to the driver to tell it what I have & that will be resolved).
