Summary: aplay loops like a broken record with YMF-724F
Description:
I have downloaded the latest kernel and Alsa RPMs from CCRMA site and was
able to get the sound drivers to work
for Yamaha YMF-724F sound card.
KMidi seems to play fine. The only problem so far that I can see is
'aplay' with WAV files.
Here is what I tried:
[root@linux sounds]# aplay email.wav
Playing WAVE 'email.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz,
Mono
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:523:(snd_pcm_hw_drain) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_DRAIN failed:
Input/output error
This sound was supposed to play once. I hear a repeat of this sound 20
times exactly. I tried all other wave files with the same results! It
sounds like a broken record up to 20 times.
I have scanned google and found only two references where others have
reported simliar results but no response fixes were given.
Help!
Best regards!
Dan Thurman

the symoptom looks like an IRQ problem.
if you have PNP-OS setting in BIOS, try to turn it off.

Yes, it looks like a general IRQ problem. Please, ask on lkml or enter this
problem to kernel's bugzilla.
