Summary: No sound on AD1986A (ASUS Laptop, Z62F)
Description:
Actually I am using 1.0.11rc5
I am unable to get any sound output on speakers or headphone jack. Oddly,
it seems that the IEC958 output works (shared with headphone jack), based
on the fact that it lights up when un-muted.
I have tried a number of model= and position_fix= options with no luck.
On this machine there is a set of stereo speakers, a line-in, mic, and
shared sp-dif/headphone jack.
Is there any output or system info I can provide to help?

Still doesn't seem to work. I tried all the position_fix options, and also
tried using hw:0,0 as well as hw:0,1 for output. I've tried the mixer
settings in _a_lot_ of different configurations, not being certain whether
some settings might affect others.

Are you sure that the model option is properly passed to the driver?
With and without model=laptop-eapd, there are significant differences in
the mixer elements. The latter has much simpler mixer.
The position_fix option is usually irrelevant with the "total silent"
problem.
Anyway, if model=eapd-laptop doesn't work, the device has likely a
completely different pin assignment. Please upload (not attach)
/proc/asound/card0/codec#* files for analysis.
