ALSA does not detect the card currently and when I try to load the snd-1724 module it fails with an EEPROM error. I have tried compiling a new kernel with the subdevice id for the Prodigy 7.1 in aureon.h changed to correspond to my device (as detailed here for another card http://linux.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups/comp.os.linux.hardware/2004-10/0340.html). Alsa then detects the card and I can load modules and change volumes in alsamixer but I haven't been able to produce any sound. Hopefully support will be easy to add as this card is almost exactly the same as the Prodigy 7.1 (and Aureon Space etc.) which already have support. I would be very happy to give any further information needed. ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- baesyspem - 07-21-05 21:06 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ungod, I finally got sound! I get sound from the B.S.(H.P) port and the front port. The front speakers play at a lower level than the BS port, but it is clear nonetheless. Right now I have to use "alsamixer" to set the Multitrak frequency before entering "aplay -D prodigy wavefile.wav" or else the file plays at the wrong speed. I am using "type play" as recommended. Has anyone tried to record a .wav file? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ungod - 07-22-05 02:28 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, we use SPI to communicate with the WM8770 chip in the driver. Communication is done manually with GPIO pins, and now that you are mentioning I2C, the Terratec Aureon 7.1 had an I2C controlled SPDIF chip, but this didn't stop Terratec from also using GPIO for that (the same GPIO's as with the WM8770). The ordinary Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 and the Terratec Aureon 7.1 series also have amps on each channel, however there is the possibility of bypassing the amp on one of the channels (fron channel on the Aureon), and apparently this is the default. Asserting a specific GPIO pin on the ICE1724 high, toggles a relay (an actual big clicking relay) which enables the amp. As you might have figured darins, I don't have the Prodigy 7.1 LT model myself and I haven't been able to get good crystal clear photos of the card on the net, which complicates everything, but it seems like you have some knowledge of electronics and driver development, so we may be able to speed things up now :) SPDIF may actually be working already. The ICE1724 chip have inbuilt SPDIF transmitter so there is no need for an external chip. The external SPDIF chip on the Aureon 7.1 and the ordinary Prodigy 7.1 was for receiving only.
