the code on rc7 doesn't set the correct SPDIF rate, so it won't work
properly.  i changed via82xx.c to set it for via686, too.  please try
the cvs version.

in addition, copy the attached to /usr/share/alsa/cards.
and try playback via "spdif" or "iec958" pcm, e.g.

	% aplay -Dspdif foo.wav

(don't ask me how to use spdif on oss programs :)
