Probably, but that's not a HW config that's been explored, while the
one performing a color-space conversion has been used for years.

It still is. But handling the color-space conversion via a new
colorop with two properties: COLOR_ENCODING and COLOR_RANGE
seemed to be the most straight-forward way of dealing with this.
I'm open to other suggestions and we can explore them.
