Apologies for parachuting in.

FWIW, when you land this I might re-surface my IB emission compaction 
work (for example 
https://lore.kernel.org/amd-gfx/20251104140421.88520-17-tvrtko.ursulin@igalia.com/). 
I don't think so far I was addressing the ring test functions but I can 
easily add those too.
