Hello,
I've bought a new Acer One D257 with AR9485 as wireless card, I run
Debian Squeeze and I can't find a way to use it.
In fact, very often the connection hangs and the wireless device becomes
totally frozen; there is nothing I can do to avoid reboot to make it
working again.
In dmesg output, I find lots of lines like these ones:
ath: Failed to stop TX DMA in 100 msec after killing last frame
ath: Failed to stop TX DMA!
ath: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0xffffffff AR_DIAG_SW=0xffffffff
ath: Could not stop RX, we could be confusing the DMA engine when we start RX up
ath: Chip reset failed
ath: Unable to reset channel (2467 MHz), reset status -22
ath: Unable to set channel
ath: Failed to stop TX DMA in 100 msec after killing last frame
ath: Failed to stop TX DMA!
If I try to rmmod the aht9k module and insert it again, i find these lines:
ath9k Refused to change power state, currently in D3
ath: Couldn't reset chip
ath: Unable to initialize hardware; initialization status: -5
I've this problem with all these kernels:
- kernel 2.6.32 from Debian Squeeze
- kernel 2.6.39 from Debian Squeeze-Backports
- kernel 3.1.6 compiled by me from the source of kernel.org, with the
same config of original Debain 3.1 kernel
Disabling ipv6, bluetooth and nohwcrypt option in module has no effect.
What else can I do?
Please give me some infos about it...
Thanks, Paolo

Using wicd or network-manager is the same.

First of all, thank you for the quick answer.
I had that problem in many different situations: during surfing
Internet, after I left the PC in pause for a while, during building
kernel, close to the router, far from the router.
In short in every situation one can use a PC.
Which other details may I provide to help you?

These are last snapshots for kernel 2.6 or also for kernel 3.1?
Since it's complicated for me to work with three different kernels, I'd
prefer to focus for the moment on kernel 3.1.6.
I've download and built the latest stable compat-wireless 3.2, with
kernel 3.1.6 and I've turned off at the boot the power management (with
"iwconfig wlan0 power off") and for the moment it seems to work, I've
had the pc up for 2 hours without the problem.
But of course I need more tests to be sure that this can fix it.

I attached here the last dmesg after the error, in effect I find here
just 2422 mhz.
I can see that my dmesg is pretty identical to Liao Haohui one, posted
yesterday.

not sure 2467 mhz is valid
