Hi,
I recently got a new MacBook Pro Retina (15"), which comes with a
Broadcom 4360 Wifi:
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4360
802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [14e4:43a0] (rev 03)
I installed Fedora 21 on it. Getting Wifi up and running was sort of a
PITA, as it required installing the kmod-wl RPM via an USB stick [1].
Can I, as a user, contribute to having the b43 kernel module support
BCM4360 [2], e.g. by testing stuff?
Regards
Bernhard

Not really. I already have some AC-PHY hardware, once I get it
running, it may be useful to test other models as well. But today
we're still far away from getting it running.
There were some *early* changes to start AC-PHY development like:
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=3c313161353ad527de1a6ecde0f0d41700858fd6

http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=3f7bb3f34cc880bc35f6c278be16cd8afee7c524
but really, it's just a beginning. It will still take a lot of time to
get anything testable.

It would help if we get anything usable, even if it was limited to
802.11g or 802.11n. Does that make things simpler? Or are AC-PHYs simply
that different from previous ones?
Note that Broadcom's wl driver isn't that good either. I cannot get a
stable connection to my access point at 802.11n. I see dramatic
increases in ping time here and there. I had to downgrade my AP to
802.11g. I never tested 802.11ac performance.

Sven

Intresting, I also have MacBook Pro Retina (but 1 year old),
with Broadcom 4331 wifi, and it works fine with b43.

Hello everyone,
I've bought a new PCE-AC68 from Asus. It uses the BCM4360. I wanted to
know, if you guys are up to a solution to support this device? If not,
how much effort would it take to learn and adjust the driver by myself
to make it work? I'm used to program in C, but I don't know anything
about the hardware in particular.
Looking forward to your answer ;)

I would like to know that too. I have an ASUS Notebook which uses a
BCM4360 based card. I have to use Broadcom's driver, which doesn't even
work that great, especially if I enable 802.11n on my access point.
I would appreciate a driver that only supports 802.11g or even 802.11n
but lacks 802.11ac support, hoping that this makes things easier.
Regards,
Sven

I have a router with this device that runs on ARM, admittedly I
haven't had a moment to try it out. It does say broken in the KConfig,
however there are other comments that seem to support it. YMMV.
Kyle.
