You can help of course. Your's NETGEAR seems to be RTL818x chip based USB dongle. Are you sure it uses open source firmware? Yeah, it's firmware is probably embedded in device's internal memory... but it is still there. I'm afraid you won't be able to get it's sources. P.S.
