Why not just add the space to the string that's already there, rather
than add another concatenation?  i.e.
     cvscmd = cvsbasecmd + " '-d" + cvsroot + "' co " + " ".join(options) + " " + ud.module

>           cvsupdatecmd = cvsbasecmd + "'-d" + cvsroot + "' update -d -P " + " ".join(options)
