Overall my feeling is that we've reached a point where the e-mail discussion is no longer making much useful progress, so what I would like to propose is to have a live discussion about the topics that have been raised: the need for more maintainers, the e-mail vs. pull-request workflow, CI improvements, etc. A live discussion would allow everybody to share his point of view, and hopefully understand better the point of view of others. We could draw from this discussion a series of conclusions and things to improve in Buildroot. It is clear from the discussion that many of us care about the Buildroot project future, so let's try to work together.
