First of all, it very obviously only touches Microblaze code, so at worst we risk breaking Microblaze... which is anyway already broken. Also, this patch basically restore the behavior that was happening on Microblaze prior to https://gcc.gnu.org/git/?p=gcc.git;a=commit;h=3b9b8d6cfdf59337f4b7ce10ce92a98044b2657b. So overall, I think Romain you can submit this as a proper patch to Buildroot, I think it's a "good enough" workaround for something like Microblaze.
