/I am not sure about this. In my .config there it is:
BR2_PACKAGE_OVERRIDE_FILE="$(TOPDIR)/local.mk"
Maybe the paranthesis break it.

You can substitute LINUX by any packet name you want. Isn't that written
in the manual?
