Thanks.  It looks like a nice patchset and it comes well-reviewed.

However it's super late in the cycle so I'd prefer to defer this until
after 7.3-rc1.

The changelogs aren't very clear on the overall benefit to our users
(please address this), but I'm thinking "minor".  If I'm wrong then
lets consider -stable backports and suitable Fixes: targets.
