Sure.
I've been working for Toshiba Industrial ICT solutions for about 3 years and a half.
That included customizing Linux kernels (mostly driver- and RT-related issues)
and root filesystems [1] for a wide range of embedded systems; as well as
doing research on real-time partitioning, security [2], fast boot, and software updates [3].
