Hi,

I'd like to propose that we open up cluster-devel@ so that non-members
can post to it. My reasoning is:

- User space development has mostly (all?) moved to ClusterLabs lists so
cluster-devel is now largely a gfs2/dlm kernel dev list.
- Kernel patches tend to get cross-posted to cluster-devel as it is
listed in the MAINTAINERS file.
- Patches and patch reviews from kernel developers who don't regularly
work on cluster components get held up in the moderation queue.
- The moderation queue may not get checked for long periods if the
active list moderators are absent.

Are there any strong objections to $subject? If not I'll go ahead and
flip the switch.

Andy

Yes, it should definitely allow non-members to post since it is the list
in the MAINTIANERS file,

Steve.

Alasdair has voiced concerns about spam off-list which I think are
valid. We don't really want spam hitting the archives as it's difficult
to remove once it's there, and propagating spam can affect how filters
treat cluster-devel traffic as a whole.

He has also added some spam filtering rules to the list configuration
that will hopefully reduce the moderation burden. I will consider how
well they work after some time has passed and review whether it makes
sense to open the list up on that basis. If not then we should try to
get some moderators in different time zones to minimise the time
messages spend in the hold queue.

Cheers,
Andy
