Not sure if this is a bug, or just not supported, but IP/TCP/UDP cksum is not
calculated for MPLS packets, works for normal packets, same behaviour on 57608
and 57508. Am I missing something, or is it not supported, and I have to do it
in software? 
I tried with testpmd as well.

Short answer is DPDK does not support checksum for MPLS.

Longer answer:
The transmit checksum API interface in DPDK expects that any encapsulation
headers are done as transmit offloads. There is no API for devices to report
MPLS offload, and there is no driver that supports it.

If you have the hardware support, would love to see this as a future
enhancement.

Your right, if you give a l2 len bigger than Ethernet, the NIC should skip.
Which driver are you using.
