Subject: [Bug 100001] New: Can't Change Resolution on MacBook w/ Hybrid Graphics and Nouveau
Date: Tue, 16 Jun 2015 17:17:08 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-100001-2300@https.bugzilla.kernel.org/> (raw)
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100001
Bug ID: 100001
Summary: Can't Change Resolution on MacBook w/ Hybrid Graphics
and Nouveau
Product: Drivers
Version: 2.5
Kernel Version: 3.16 & 3.19
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Tree: Mainline
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P1
Component: Video(DRI - non Intel)
Assignee: drivers_video-dri@kernel-bugs.osdl.org
Reporter: dmrickert@gmail.com
Regression: No
When changing the resolution from the native display, the screen goes black and
does not revert to the last setting. At this point, a reboot is required to
fix it.
I have tested on multiple Macbooks, if it does not have an NVIDIA graphics card
than there is no problem. I'm booting 14.04 off of a USB stick and using the
Nouveau drivers. I've seen this with both the 3.16 and 3.19 kernels.
Steps to Reproduce:
-On a MacBook Pro with hybrid graphics, boot into a fresh Ubuntu 14.04
installation with kernels 3.16 or 3.19.
-System Settings > Displays > Pick a new resolution
Also happens if you use xrandr from the command line.
Additional Information:
-My problem seems to be identical to this user
