The system is still operational, and I was able to login remotely via ssh.
Seems to happen more often when the CPU is under load.
Relevant dmesg:
INFO: task Xorg:539 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
Not tainted 4.7.0 #5
"echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs" disables this message.
