Since I'm using the tuxonice patch, I'll retry with really clean vanilla. Although I have tried with the patch applied but without tuxonice enabled and though the only thing that is different is that it freezes more kernel threads than in-kernel suspend, there is a chance that there's something wrong with it. Since I'm using the tuxonice patch, I'll retry with really clean vanilla.
