Results: 1: Updated mesa to latest master (git 90368875e), the problem still occurs exactly as previously described. 2: Problem occurs not only on unity desktop, also when xbmc is running standalone with composite disabled. 3: Problem occurs on each of the three monitors attached, whether or not other monitors are selected to be switched off, and including the monitor that can switch refresh rates to the correct one. 4: situation with VLC is confusing at the moment. While release notes claim VDPAU the GUI makes no mention of it, so I'm not sure what's working or not, but when it does fail it seems to be a different problem anyway. Results:
