Well I just tried drm-next-3.17-rebased-on-fixes and it died as soon as fbcon loaded. Screen full junk and an oops logged. I have got the new firmware (unless there's an even newer one) and have booted into the other 3.17 before - but it eventually crashed due to missing fixes.
