Huh? I tried this:
$ foo="$(printf '\n')/bar"
$ printf '%s\n' "$foo"
/bar
If that didn't work, it would mean that "git rev-parse --show-prefix"
would never work when the prefix is nonempty, because it is followed
by a newline.
