Hi everyone, I have been trying to find a
microproject idea and I saw that the 'dart'
language was not present in userdiff.c 's list of
languages.
Can anyone clarify if this is a viable GSOC
microproject ? And if there are any hidden
difficulties or anything like that?
Thanks,
Soutrik

Yes, adding a new language entry to userdiff.c is a valid contribution
and a good way to get familiar with Git’s workflow and review process.

It’s fine as a starting point. For GSoC, it usually helps if you also
follow this up with additional small, focused contributions over time,
but there’s nothing wrong with beginning here.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Pushkar

But be aware that it's at the challenging end of the spectrum for a
microproject, if not already too much. Microprojects focus on the patch
and review workflow, while the solution itself is usually fairly simple.
A new language in userdiff.c isn't necessarily of that kind. Among other
things, we expect that the code change is accompanied by test cases.

Yeah you're probably right. Thanks for the feedback Pushkar Singh and
Johannes Sixt.
I will try to do more focused and smaller contributions.
Thanks,
Soutrik
