Btw, one reason people end up talking about git-config is that it's easier to tell *other* people to "run this command" than it is to tell them to "edit this file so it looks like ". And I think that's understandable, but still very sad. That file was designed to be edited by humans, and it's actually much easier to edit that way than to do lots of "git config" runs. Linus
