That's why it's a *sub*module. I would say it is only in the supermodule because that is the branch you are working on. If you are working on the submodule in an independent branch then you can pull from the submodule commit. But you do not want to pull the supermodule commit itself but only the commit in path libxcb (see my proposed syntax). Regards Stephan
