I know that this issue might've been reported, but it's relevant as of GRUB 2.14.

GRUB does not, under any circumstance, release handles of USB devices once they're unplugged.
I am using the Coreboot payload and if i plug and unplug the usb i will create an N amount of (usbX) handles.
On Linux, this wreaks havoc, having errors such as: `usb3-portX cannot enable. usb cable bad?`. This **can** lead to a panic if you use a LiveCD for instance.
I also want to comment on the fact that on devices like the T480 USB does not work outright. It works on the X230T. I know that manpower is spread thin around GRUB but you still have a throne as a Coreboot payload.
Cheers.
