Yes, it is supported. Definitely a Pineview.

SO it is probably not recommended option. In any of the options
available you will stop using your distribution packages and will stop
getting updates, mainly secutiry ones.
So please just do that if you are sure and confident.

No, they just build binaries replacing the ones provided by your
distribution.
