I'm using a resolution of 1280x720 and everything is working fine: X.Org X Server 1.11.4 Release Date: 2012-01-27 [ 68585.825] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [ 68585.825] Build Operating System: Linux 3.2.0-1-amd64 x86_64 Debian [ 68585.825] Current Operating System: Linux brian 3.2.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 20 18:36:37 UTC 2012 x86_64 [ 68585.825] Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-2-amd64 root=UUID=94a1038c-931b-4cb0-a0bc-2d38d4aafbdf ro drm.debug=0x0e [ 68585.825] Build Date: 04 March 2012 11:42:13PM [ 68585.825] xorg-server 2:1.11.4-1 (Cyril Brulebois ) I have no special xorg.conf but use the automatically calculated config. Now I want to put a multimedia receiver (Marantz NR1501) inbetween my pc and the TV but I do not get any picture one my tv anymore as soon as the i915 driver gets loaded. I tested a lot with different resolutions and refresh rates but I do not have success :-( I also tested with my laptop (also i3 graphics) running Ubuntu 10.04 - the same problem: running fine when directly connected to the TV but no pictire when the receiver is inbetween. When I run windows on the laptop everything is working fine! No matter which resolution/refresh rate I use... So I assume it's a problem with the linux driver for i915. I did a lot of googleing but wihtout success: The only thing I found was this blog: http://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2008/04/22/hdcp-hdmi-repeaters-and-you-well-me-anyway/ talking about HDCP problems with windows when repeaters are inbetween the pc and the TV (the problem descriptions sounds identically to my problem). My question is: Is it possible that the i915-driver activates HDCP by default (by fault)? I was assuming that there is no HDCP under linux... Or: does anybody have an idea what the problem could be or how I could locate it? Best regards, Joerg
