I've not had a chance to see if this also applies to Fedora and/or Mageia, or 
been able to tell whether it's an Intel bug rather than a Xorg bug. Maybe 
someone here already knows?

That's an SNA bug. I thought M_T_USERPREF modes were already on the
output during initial probing, however that is not the case.

Again you were a bit too cryptic for my understanding. Did I again just bring 
to your attention a problem you hadn't been aware of but now have in queue 
for a fix?
