You should take a look at "The Linux Kernel Module Programming Guide"
which is rather old but seems to be a good starting point:

Hi narendra,

There are many books. What I feel to consider for hands on writing kernel modules yo can refer Linux Device Driver by JONATHAN CORBET, ALESSANDRO RUBINI & GREG KROAH-HARTMAN.

Thanks,
Rahul

There is a free on-line version of that book, Narendra.

https://lwn.net/Kernel/LDD3/

I will suggest "Professional Linux Kernel Architecture" by Wolfgang
Mauerer too. I don't know if an on-line version, but it's a good book.

Hi, I am also a kernel newbie. You can look up
Documentation/kernel-docs.txt under the source tree. This file lists a
lot of reference books. And you can also find its latest version here:
http://www.dit.upm.es/~jmseyas/linux/kernel/hackers-docs.html
I hope it can help you.
